Product Description
An Ultrasonic Protective Sleeve, often called a probe cover, transducer sheath, or ultrasound condom, is a single-use, sterile or non-sterile barrier device designed to sheath an ultrasound probe (transducer). Its primary function is to prevent cross-contamination and maintain hygiene during ultrasound procedures by creating a protective barrier between the patient and the probe.
Most are made from medical-grade latex-free materials such as polyurethane, polyethylene, or TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) to ensure hypoallergenic protection and high tensile strength.
1. Prevents nosocomial infections by blocking the transmission of microorganisms like bacteria and viruses;
2. Shields the probe's acoustic lens and housing from corrosive gels and fluids, reducing probe repair costs and extending transducer lifespan;
3. Pre-lubricated sleeves or those with integrated gel save time and ensure consistent acoustic coupling. Allows for rapid turnover between patients;
4. Latex-free and smooth material enhances patient comfort during sensitive exams. Visible use of a sleeve builds patient trust in clinic hygiene.
