Bacterial/Viral filters are used to help prevent the transmission of bacteria and viruses and to prevent cross-infection between the patient and the environment during medical ventilation or anesthesia. 

Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) filters, composed of electrostatically-charged hydrophobic fibers, physically block potential contaminants, such as bacteria and viruses, and maintain the performance of PFT equipment. 

Heat Moisture Exchange Filters (HMEFs) are an effective combination of a Heat & Moisture Exchange medium and an electrostatic filter medium, used to protect the patient from cross-infection and to warm and humidify the inspired gases. The HMEF is widely used in clinical settings, such as artificial airway management, mechanical ventilation treatments, and surgical anesthesia, for total laryngectomy patients.
