Product Description
Description of Guedel Airway
The oropharyngeal airway, also known as an oral airway, OPA, or Guedel pattern airway - was designed by Arthur Guedel. It was an airway adjunct used to maintain or open the airway by stopping the tongue from covering the epiglottis. An oropharyngeal airway has four parts: the flange, the body, the tip, and a channel to allow for the passage of air and suction. Oropharyngeal airways are indicated only in an unconscious person because of the likelihood that the device would stimulate a gag reflex in conscious or semi-conscious persons.
